I have a 401K at work through Fidelity Investments, should I invest elsewhere? I deposit 6% of my check every paycheck to my 401k and the company I work for matches it dollar for dollar. The trouble is, I don't have a lot of options to choose from in terms of where I want the money invested. I can choose an agressive, moderate, or conservative risk and they go to the places that Fidelity sees fit. My question is, should I invest in stocks elsewhere on top of my 401k? I'm 25 years old by the way.
How can I access information on Fidelity Investments? I need to gather information about the company itself for a report for school. I need to determine whether Fidelity is "successful". I know they are, I just need sources to prove this and it's tough because they are privately owned and don't publish their info. I already have "Fidelity's World" which is very helpful. Thanks in advance for any advice or information. i'm pretty sure it's privately owned... by the Johnson family in Boston (Ned)

What fidelity investment plan should I choose? I am 27 making good money and single (not for long). Starting a new job at Fidelity Investments, neone have any personal experience working for them? I accepted an offer to work as a part time customer service associate at the newly built campus in Covington, Kentucky. I'm a recent grad with a BA. in history and heading back this fall for accounting courses. I've heard from somebody they're notorious for layoffs. I'm sure one is bound to run into this at any company, but I guess I'm asking how cut throat is it? I'm not putting all my eggs in one basket with this company since I'm keeping another Part time Job for now. Im also planning to take the CPA exam in the future and earn a Masters in Accounting within the next five years. I'd figure this would be a good place to start and get experience. I'm only expecting to work here for about a year or two in this position until either I would theoretically get a full time Job there or find a job somewhere else. Any response whether positve or negative would be of most help. Any pointers to reduce ones chance of a quick layoff would be most helpful too.
What is your knowledge about blood diamonds, blood oil, blood investments? Did you ever realized that a diamond worth million of Dollars in Western market was sold in cheap labor in a warzone in African country, or that rebels are fighting to make sure oil profit should be shared among the country's citizens and help build institutions instead of depositing all that money to Swiss banks, or that somehow investments by Fidelity is involved conflicts in Darfur... ? DID YOU KNOW that every crises has a root?... Of course, the media may report about the issues, but not the causes.

Is it "lobbying" when Fidelity sponsors fund raiser for Barney Frank? Fidelity banks on Barney Frank Honchos host fund-raiser for finance panel's chief By Jay Fitzgerald, Boston Herald Thursday, April 23, 2009 Fidelity chairman Edward "Ned" Johnson wasn't kidding when he recently said his firm was beefing up its clout within Washington circles at a time of expected regulatory changes for the financial sector. Boston-based Fidelity last month hosted a fund-raiser for U.S. Rep. Barney Frank at its downtown offices, and company executives dished out $28,000 in individual donations to the powerful chairman of the House Financial Services Committee. Among executives who gave money to Frank were Abby Johnson, Ned's daughter, and Rodger Lawson, president of Fidelity. Both gave Frank $2,400 each, federal records show. In all, about 27 Fidelity workers donated to Frank's campaign during the first quarter. Their donations accounted for about two-thirds of all the individual donations Frank received during the three-month period. Ned Johnson himself was not listed as a donor. But Frank, a Newton Democrat expected to play a major role in drafting new financial regulations, also received $2,500 last month from Fidelity's political action committee, records show. Fund-raising "doesn't influence" the congressman, said a spokesman, while adding that Frank appreciates Fidelity's support. "The fact they (Fidelity executives) reached out is welcome," said Frank spokesman Jim Segel. A Fidelity spokesman said it's not uncommon for Fidelity employees to get involved in public affairs. "We feel it's important to communicate with public officials about the importance of a strong economy and financial-services industry," said spokesman Vin Loporchio. But Jim Lowell, editor of the independent Fidelity Investor newsletter, said he's never heard of Fidelity backing Frank or other lawmakers to such an extent. Still, Lowell he said he's not surprised by Fidelity's fund-raiser for Frank, considering that Ned Johnson earlier this year vowed in an annual report to strengthen Fidelity's government and public-affairs unit amid increasing calls for more financial regulations. Fidelity's political action committee has contributed to Frank and other lawmakers in past years. But the Washington Independent, the online arm of the Center for Independent Media, recently reported that individual Fidelity employees had given Frank only $3,750 over the previous two decades - until last month's fund-raiser. Lowell said Frank, an old-fashioned liberal, and Johnson, a conservative who recently ridiculed "make work" government programs, make for "interesting" allies. Article on Herald website 1. Fidelity Investments holds big fundraiser for Barney Frank, raising thousands of dollars for his campaign fund. US Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) is probably among the despised members of Congress these days. As Chairman of the House Banking Committee, most people have seen his arrogant, condescending manner in various television interviews over the past several months. Barney Frank's recent activities seem to range across the spectrum (and this is just his recent stuff): Financial meltdown. Frank's complicity in this country's financial crisis has become legendary. This includes Frank's very public homosexual affair with Herb Moses, a high-paid executive with Fannie Mae. At the same time, Frank opposed government restrictions on risky activities by Freddy Mac and Fannie Mae which led directly to terrible consequences. (How's your 401(k) doing?) Hate crimes. Barney Frank was a co-sponsor and major proponent of the onerous Hate Crimes bill passed by the US House last week, Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2009, which would punish thoughts, rather than actions, regarding sexual orientation and "gender identity" in America. The terms "sexual orientation" and "gender identity" remain undefined in the legislation. Transgender agenda. Rep. Frank recently got a step up on the hate crimes bill (protecting the employment of transsexuals) by hiring a woman with a hormone-induced beard and mustache who dresses as a man to serve on his Washington staff in the US Capitol. (See MassResistance blog report.) Homosexual programs in schools. This past weekend Barney Frank came to Boston to raise money for PFLAG, a homosexual activist group that targets kids in the public schools, and puts on various homosexual, bisexual, and transgender events for kids and adults, many extremely radical. Well, it turns out that not everyone is upset with ol' Barney. Boston-based Fidelity Investments wants to make sure that Frank wins his next election. So a few weeks ago they "reached out" to him and threw a fund-raiser for Frank at their downtown Boston offices, netting $28,000 for Frank's campaign fund, which was reported in the Boston Herald last week, in the article below. In our eyes, this represents the rock-bottom worst of politics and big business. Is ther I guess you need to be asked, "Do two wrongs make a right?"
Has anyone used Fidelity representatives for investment advice? I have a variety of Fidelity mutual funds and I am thinking of using one of their representatives to review and evaluate my portfolio. I hope to get some sound advice about how to invest over the long term for retirement. Has anyone used their services and what did you think of them. I realize they may push their own products, as most advisors do at the large firms, but I haven't found an independent advisor that I feel comfortable with.
Has anyone worked at Fidelity International Investments? Have you worked at Fidelity International Investments in Kingswood, Surrey UK in a starting position within UK Customer Relations. Im guessing it was from a scholarship that i got while i was at a University. I believe i claimed the scholarship for tuition a couple years ago, and now there is a balance of like 20$. Company parties, does anyone know why Fidelity Investment does this? InFidelity? Fidelity Investments is a great company to work for, there are many benefits and advancement opportunities, etc. Within Fidelity their is this joke that they are actually "Infidelity," which comes from the fact that when they have corporate parties they make them very exstravigant with catering, bands, dancing, alchol, etc and they are held at pricey hotels....they even reserve hotel rooms BUT your spouses are NOT invited?? There are many stories of who hooked up with who (married employees). What is going on with that? Why would a company do this? How do large companies usually throw parties?
Which is a better investment for 529 plan, Vanguard or Fidelity? From what I saw, Fidelity has no annual fee but charges 0.03 percent on deposits. Vanguard requires $3000 deposit or be subject to $20 annual fee but there's no fee on deposits. So Vanguard sounds like a better deal but I don't have the $3000 deposit yet. But which company is better at giving better returns?

Roth IRA at Fidelity vs Vanguard? Hi everyone. I've been doing some research and get equal reports of satisfaction from people who have Roth IRAs at Fidelity Investments and Vanguard as well. Many people claim that the fees are less at Vanguard. However I cannot contribute the minimum of $3,000 to open a Roth there. I can, however, contribute electronically to Fidelity with $200/month minimum to start. Would it still be wise to open a Roth IRA with Fidelity despite my limitation? Thanks again.
